Bernice Hazucha

Board Member

Bernice Hazucha is a suicide intervention Spanish speaking counselor. In 2021, Bernice founded the first suicide prevention call center for the State of Wyoming. She worked for the National Suicide Lifeline for Dutchess County Helpline for over 19 years. She has also worked in crime and domestic violence victims’ programs since 2004 and has spent over 26 years performing a variety of community services. Bernice’s passion for providing a voice for those who cannot or will not come forward has been a signature of hers for quite some time. She is a survivor of domestic violence and has made it a point to utilize her voice and skills to help encourage those less fortunate.

Bernice served as the past President of A.H.O.R.A., Association of Hispanic to Obtain Resources and Assistance, for over 5 years as a Board member for that organization for over 11 years before the Board decided to dismantle since it had accomplished what it had set out to do for over 15 years. Bernice served as past  Board of CASADA as Co-Chair. She has volunteered in several community groups and participated in the Vet-to-Vet peer groups in Putnam, Orange, and Dutchess and in the state of Wyoming.

Bernice holds a degree in Human Services as well as several certifications in the substance abuse area, DBT, CBT, and Vet to Vet mental health crisis. Bernice is a certified National Anger Management Specialist and a Crisis Intervention Specialist II.

When she is not out and about trying to save the world, she is home doing what she loves to do best, cook up a storm for family and friends. Bernice loves traditions and loves to share this with her friends and family. Her Latino heritage just pours out of her in her cooking and in her personality.
